About Us
Hello, we are Noel, Ines and Carla, the 3 daughters of "Bocha" Carlos Maria Nan LLambías, that was his name, was passionate of engines from little boy. With passion and dedication, have pieced together a collection of 11 classic cars, which we present on this page. Significantly, the collection was never an aim in itself, nor followed a definite line (brand, model, etc.), but at the end of a car beginning with another, he had the chance and liked it.
References and details provided here, mostly coming from a recording where Dad recounted details of all cars. This was in 2003.
The beginning of the hobby was the Stoddard Dayton Double Tourin 1911, as his father, Luis, gave it to his 18th birthday (1956). Grandfather Luis taught him to drive, in the Ford 1937 he have in this moment. Just hit the pedals, grandfather took the wheel, and Dad was learning quickly. The first day that gave him the car, was on National Route No. 3 near Chapicuy town, Route sing that was rough and unpaved.
Dad was also actively involved in motorsports, specifically in the karting sport in which we three also compete. His business activities, associated with agriculture, kept in constant contact with motors, and other implements of mechanics.
Returning to Stoddard, Dad really liked this car, enjoying always he can, and was being knowed by the community Paysandú (where Dad was born and resided always), so people started asking the car for different events, procession, weddings, etc. And so the Montevideo Classic Cars Club learned of the existence of this car, and asked Dad to participate in the 6th edition of the "International Classic Cars Rally of the Rio del Plata", held from 5 to 8 April 1984. Racing at that time, began to interact with people linked to Sport and Historic cars, and Classic Cars Group from Rosario invited him to join the 1st International Rally Collection Car "Flag Week" in Rosario, ARGENTINA, from 16 to 20 June 1984. On this occasion, he was very impressed with the level of preservation of the cars involved in these events, and so he attempted to restore the Stoddard in order to be taken to its maximum potential. The condition of the Stoddard was good, primarily mechanics, but with refinements in sheet metal, paint and upholstery to new, remained as the day it came out of the workshops in Ohio, back in the distant 1911.
Another car that was in the family since 0 km, is the Plymouth Sedan 1955, car that my grandfather bought for Daddy and Aunt Estela. Today belongs to our cousin "Nino" Thevenet. Nino, which always accompanies Dad both in field activities and engine ones, because “Bocha” was always longing for the son. He shared a lot with Dad and "inherited" his passion for the cars
The first car Dad purchased to restore was a Ford V8 Cabriolet 1937. It is a voituré painted the same color that the 1937 Ford that he learned to drive. He felt that, considering its occupation, could make the time, had the place and the tools to do, and eager and knowledge was taking "tricks" in art restoration. Found formidable the restoration phase, including doing tasks that were not his greatest pleasure as walking by looking for parts wrecking parts, understanding a fundamental part of the hobby to get to that coveted moment of satisfaction to see and feel the car finished.
Then, little step by step, he was founding cars he liked, that were able to buy and restore. The most remarkable story is that of Prince Jacques Delahaye, self-carriage built in 1909. The car originally belonged to Eduardo Ríos family, and was "filed" unused in a warehouse. Some time had hinted to her father intended to buy, but was excused because he was a family heritage. One day, Eduardo asked Dad if he had any diesel engine, and the answer was "I had an engine with full tractor, and if interested, only accepted a swap for the Delahaye". For the condition it was in the car business was absurd, as Mr. Ríos could not but accept, without leaving the astonishment of Dad wanted to be able to have that car. This was in early 80s. The only condition was to give him all the accessories and car parts that have a pattern that was spared the extreme (from lanterns hung in the eaves as ornaments, or a silence that was placed in the van that was used until the fenders that had been used as a veneer to cover a "reservoir").
The "collection" of "Bocha" is composed of the following vehicles (grouped according to categories used in the Rally):
